A group of soldiers from New Zealand and Australia went to fight in the war.
They were known as the ANZACs (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps).
Some Pacific Islanders went to war too.

Research your chosen Island and write some vocabulary about it:

Tonga has 289 square miles of land.	Most people speak tonga or English.	People can expect to live 68 years.	The king grew increasingly authoritarian and has curtailed press freedom..
In 2005, 3,000 civil servants went on strike, demanding better pay	Throughout 2005, discontent with economic and social inequities intensified throughout the kingdom.	As a result, Prince 'Ulukalala Lavaka Ata resigned as prime minister in Feb.	In Aug. 2006, the king died and was replaced by his son, George Tupou V.

Task 3: Pretend you are someone from your chosen Pacific Island who
has volunteered to serve in World War 1. Write a letter to someone back
home.

Dear Auntie
